Creative Connections Gift Shop & Gallery’ was launched by the husband & wife team of Mark and Angie Setevdemio in 2016. Located Ashburnham, Massachusetts, the gallery represents an eclectic mix of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists working in a wide range of styles and mediums. The gift shop is a destination space featuring artisan pottery, blown glass, hand-made jewelry, wearable art and much more.

Ricardo Barros

Ricardo Barros is a photographer, writer, curator, and filmmaker. His works are in the permanent collections of eleven museums, including the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, Museum of Art of São Paulo, and Fitchburg Art Museum. He received NJSCA Fellowships in Photography in 1984 and 2021, and the 2024 Present Tense Prize.
 
His most recent exhibition, “Fitchburg Through Brush and Lens” at Gallery Marquee, with Heather Barros, was January 16-March 1, 2025.

Ed Bray

Artist

 

Ed Bray is an illustration graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduation, he began his illustration career in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he worked for a company on pen and ink and marker layouts. In addition to his commercial assignments, he focused on watercolor landscapes of the Midwest, which were exhibited at the Fuller Art Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts. Examples of his illustrations appear in Drawing: Structure and Vision by Fritz Drury and Joanne Stryker © 2008.

Caitlyn D’Amico

Caitlyn D’Amico is an artist and educator living outside of Boston, MA. She attended Pratt MWP in 2015 and received her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in 2019. She graduated with a concentration in Painting and a minor in Fashion Design. In the summer of 2019 she continued her studies to expand her practice as a painter. She created sculptural objects often by stitching wire to canvas. In May 2021, she received her MFA from the Maine College of Art in Portland, ME.

Bonnie Ianotta

Susan McQuade

Artist

 

Susan McQuade is a Fitchburg-based multimedia visual artist working in water-soluble oil painting and polymer clay. Her recent paintings explore miniature landscapes, while her polymer clay creations lean into mystical themes, most notably, handcrafted wands inspired by nature and folklore.

Creativity has always been central to Susan’s life, evolving across mediums and styles. Her work spans traditional to abstract approaches, often incorporating the human figure as a recurring and vital element.

An alumnus of the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, Susan also studied at the Worcester Art Museum and through independent workshops.

Her work is available through direct commission and at the Fitchburg Farmers Market. She welcomes inquiries at sjmSashaArt@gmail.com.

Jill Pottle

Jill is fascinated with common household items and works en Plein air. She enjoys the spontaneity found in landscapes and believes it aids her in keeping a renewed vision of observation. In her studio, she has controlled lighting and stationary still-life objects, allowing her to involve herself more directly in the emotional tension between the objects.

Her paintings and drawings are described as “expressionist realism”. She explores humor, emotion and relationships in her work. She works from life and reinterprets the subject matter into a personal response to convey her story.

Noel Plouffe

ARTIST

Noel Plouffe joined the Thurston Consort in 2019. Noel, on hammered dulcimer, is a multi-instrumentalist and has played music in North Central Massachusetts for decades with the Medicinal String Band, Dicey Reilly, Joy After Sorrow English Country Dance Orchestra, and the Quabbin Community Band. Noel also sits in on tuba with the Fitchburg State University Concert Band. Noel studied music at the Hartford Conservatory, then continued his studies at the Beehive Lounge providing Tuba accompaniment for Joey Pal on piano and at Quinsigamond Community College. Noel makes his home in Fitchburg, MA.

The Thurston Consort is dedicated to presenting regular chamber music concerts in the North Central Massachusetts region, establishing Fitchburg, MA as the regional center for the arts and cultural with performances in historic, fully renovated  Phillips Hall on the Upper Common, Fitchburg.  Our city’s premier center for the performing arts. Our Phillips Hall concert will be Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 7 PM.

Helen Obermeyer Simmons

Helen is a member of the Women’s Caucus for Art and an active member of the city of Fitchburg.  She believes for an artist, projects are in constant process of creation.  She is a mixed media artist.  Her artwork Postcard from the Past, received the Voitto Jarvi Watercolor Prize at FAM’s 87th Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft.

Laura Vogel

Artist

 

Laura Vogel is an artist and educator who recently moved to Fitchburg, MA from New York.  She has taught at NYBG for 18 years, and worked as a freelance botanical illustrator for Dr. Noel Holmgren, illustrating over 1300 new drawings for The Illustrated Companion to Gleason & Cronquist’s Vascular Plants of the Northeastern United States and Adjacent Canada. Laura also taught field biology at William Paterson University and contributed illustrations to 3 volumes of Intermountain Flora. She was also asked to design several textile projects by Spring Textile Company.

In a range of work from life drawings and plein air painting to embroidery, wood carvings, and enameling, Abigail Williams explores the balance between conceptual understanding and creative storytelling: tracing the boundaries of accuracy and efficiency, detail and implication, function and tradition. Her most recognizable works are her nude gesture drawings in graphite and charcoal.
